October 1 Meeting

On October 1, the N.E.R.D.S. team was called together for a meet at Mr. Gerald Nelson’s home. Those attending were Caden Peck, Evan Nothstine, Mr. Nelson, Dick Ross, and Mark Donaldson.

The meeting began with the unveiling of a prototype ball launcher. It was 12 inch long PVC pipe, with a 4 1/2 inch barrel. A smaller, spring loaded copper pipe was put through the back, so it could be pulled back and released to fire a ball out of it. Unfortunately, it was ineffective. It was decided then that if that idea was to go on to become a part of our design, we would need to use a stronger spring and shorter barrel. After this discussion, the rest of the meet was spent assembling the center vortex for the game in our arena, and the beacons. The vortex was completed, but not the beacons.

This meet was primarily bent on creating the center game vortex. The N.E.R.D.S. team’s sturdy build is sure to aid us in training our future drivers and robot for this year’s big match.
